The topic of the anointing is one that does not seem to be covered much in the church. Yes, there is some talk, but the majority of Christians do not have a good understanding of the anointing. That means the anointing of God or the anointing of….well, someone else.

We have scriptures in the Old Testament and New Testament that talks about the anointing. However, one of the most well-known scriptures probably comes from Acts 10.

“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him (Acts 10:38 ).”

From this scripture alone, we can see that what Jesus Christ did, He did not do by Himself. He was anointed to do it. That anointing allowed Him to do good and heal all those who were oppressed by the devil. Looking at other scriptures, we can see that the anointing is for a specific purpose.

“You shall anoint them, as you anointed their father, that they may minister to Me as priests; for their anointing shall surely be an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations (Exodus 40:15).”

“And he poured some of the anointing oil on Aaron’s head and anointed him, to consecrate him (Leviticus 8:12).”

“Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel arose and went to Ramah (1 Samuel 16:13).”

We must understand that the anointing is not just for the ministry. We can see from the Old Testament that even the builders of the temple were anointed to build t and kings were anointed to lead a nation. God does not change. He is still anointing mean and women to do His will across the earth.

However, we must understand that God is not the only one who anoints people.

If you look throughout the scriptures, you will see times when Satan has anointed or empowered people to do his will. This can come by a flat out willingness to do so or a deception on the devil’s part. We see King Ahab and Queen Jezebel and their 450 false prophets, Pharaoh in Egypt and King Nebuchadnezzar in Babylon were all anointed (or empowered by Satan) to do his will. In the New Testament we can see Judas Iscariot, the Pharisees, the Jews and Nostics who persecuted the Apostles. Continue throughout the early church and you can see the Roman Emperors like Nero, used of satan, empowered by him to persecute and stop God’s people from doing His will.

But this did not occur just in Biblical times and ancient times. Satan has empowered men (and women) throughout history to do his will. Even in recent times, satan has empowered men to do things that would make your stomach turn. Names such as Mao, Stalin, Lenin, and Hitler – all empowered by Satan to do his will and destroy the countries they led.

Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. (1John 2:18)

The term antichrist here is used to describe those who stand against the Lord Jesus Christ. It speaks of the antichrist spirit, not The Antichrist.

To understand this scripture, and what is going on in the world today, we must first understand that there are such things as spirits. I’m not talking ghosts. Satan is a real being, just as God is. There are such things as angels and demons. This antichrist spirit is a demonic spirit.

This spirit is a deceptive spirit. It is so deceptive that it has many in the church yielding to it and not even realizing it. It is deceiving those in the world as well, and they have no clue that they are being controlled by it. Now you can go off the deep end on this and get demon-conscious and devil-kooky. You can start thinking everything is a devil. You can start thinking that just because you’ve never seen such things or heard of them that they don’t exist. I assure you just as the sunrises, that there are such things as demons and they are seducing people all across the world. Just because there are those who go to extremes, that doesn’t mean there isn’t truth in there. We must stay balanced.

We must also understand that this antichrist spirit is not only deceiving people today, it has done the same thing in the past.  Since the beginning of time, this spirit – demonic spirits – have been deceiving people in and out of the church. This time in history is no different in that aspect. However, as we grow closer to the last days on earth, demonic activities are increasing as Satan knows his time here is short.

If we look at other nations in recent history, we can even see how this antichrist spirit works, how satan anoints people to do his will. If you look back at Germany, China, and Russia, you will see that before Hitler, Mao, Lenin and Stalin came to power, there were some things that preceded them. In each instance, there was a great decline in the spiritual realm, the social realm, the political realm, and the economic realm. In each instance, this decline in the spiritual, economic, political and social realm paved the way for these leaders, anointed by satan, to take over.

The social realm in each of these societies lost their moral compass – things that were once widely accept as being wrong were now in the gray area, or socially acceptable. In the political realm, officials were corrupt, and laws were bypassed to do as men wanted, not what the country wanted. In the economic realm, times became hard. The term depression would apply to all of these countries. In Germany alone, one woman left a wheel barrel of money on the street as she went into a store because she knew no one would steal the money. However, when she came out, she found the pile of money laying on the ground and her wheel barrel gone.

But the most damaging decline came in the spiritual realm. The church gave up sound Bible doctrine and lost its authority over satan. The church rejected the truth of the scriptures, compromised what the Bible says to try and win the lost. However, instead they lost their authority in the name of Jesus and satan took the church over and took the nations over. So ultimately, the Nazis and communism would have never taken over if the church would not have rejected God’s ways and the scriptures. The church was at fault.

This is how satan attacked nations in the past and it is the same way he is still doing it. He is anointing leaders in the government and deceiving those in the church to do his will. Did you know that when Hitler rose to power, the most influential and respected Christian leader stood up among all of his country and told them that Hitler was sent by God? If some one that ‘spiritual’ can be deceived, we must make sure that we stay with the Bible and be vigilant ourselves.    

Today, satan is using the same tricks. He is making the church’s voice in the culture meaningless. He does this by mocking Christians, beliefs, doctrines, and marginalizing them. Thus, no Christian voice is allowed or taken seriously in government policy or the social exchange of ideas. Teaching the Bible and prayer in schools was banned in Germany when Hitler came to power. The Bible was removed from the marketplace of ideas. And the church compromised with it’s culture – a culture that had fallen into the depths of sin.

In today’s society we can see the same thing happening in the United States. We see ungodly laws passed like never before. Sin is legalized and made the norm by the government and culture. Christian beliefs are mocked, deemed unlawful, and despised by the ruling government. And sadly, many Christians have been deceived into following the devil and his plans.

In the church, a shallow and weak gospel is preached that has no power. Hitler himself promoted this type of Christianity that stripped all spiritual authority, all confrontational truth, all moral authority from it. What was left was a feel good message that promoted anything but the teachings of Jesus Christ. It was much like the same message that is being preached in some of the largest churches in America today.

But why did it go so far in Germany? How did it get to a positive message, a half-truth gospel? Well, how did there come to be 450 false prophets in Israel in the time of Elijah? Because no one stood up and confronted the false teaching and false prophets. Just like Elijah’s time, no one stood up in Germany when Hitler first came to power and the false doctrine entered the church. No one stood to confront the lies that so many had been deceived by. And when Hitler made his move to take more power over the church, the ones that would stand up to him – 6,000 ministers – they were imprisoned or murdered.

Today we have a false doctrine that has overcome many in the church. Many ministers have compromised and now teach that you do not need to be forgiven of your sin. In many churches today abortion, homosexuality, same sex marriage is accepted as a normal way of life – not a sin that must be confronted. Today Christians vote for those they believe can help the economy, those that sound good behind a podium, those that give them tingles. Instead of voting in line with the Bible, many Christians vote-in politicians that are empowered by satan to do his will.

Many ministers do not stand against this out of fear of the consequences of man, and totally disregard the consequences that not standing with God will bring. I know of one pastor that dis-invited a minister because this minister spoke the non-compromising truth of what is going on in our nation. The pastor knew that if he allowed this minister to come that he would have many people in his church leave and take their fat wallets with them because they agreed with this positive message and the politicians it help put into office.

These ministers will have to stand before God for their decisions. They have either given into pressure from those around them or have themselves been deceived by these spirits.These ministers, and other Christians that have been deceived are actually working against God and the Holy Spirit, helping satan to fulfill his plan.

We must realize that there are spirits at work in the world today. Demons work to deceive and cause people to do the will of satan. Angels go about influencing people to do the will of God and His children as they use their authority in Christ. In this day, there are many who are being empowered by satan – anointed by him – to do his will. Many of the same things that are going on in our nation today have already happened in Germany prior to World War 2.

Now I am not against any of our politicians or government leaders. And neither should you be. We are not to be against human beings. In fact, we should be for them- all of them. But we do stand against false doctrine and the evil spirits that are influencing them.

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age,[c] against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12).”

We must realize that some people are being controlled, empowered by satan to do his will. If you follow politics you will see how amazing our current President and his story of rise to power has been so contrary to those that preceded him. The truth of his past has been disclosed, yet has been ignored or shrugged off by most of the country. Those who claim anything about his past, his birth, his qualifications, his actions – they have been marginalized.

What is more believable – the man that was elected is an idiot when it comes to doing the job he was elected to, or that he is being controlled by satan to pass laws, to make judgement, to make policies and appointees that look like stupid decisions, but in truth bring about consequences that drive this country further into chaos and destruction?

Remember why this country was founded – to be a missionary post for the church. God intended this nation to reach the world for Christ. Since its founding, America has sent more missionaries into the world than any other country. But how can we do that when our gospel is deluded to a point of no power, our economy allows for no funds to print Bibles, to send missionaries, and our culture and government is so perverse and sin-ridden that they won’t even accept the first words out of a true Christian’s mouth?

No, I do not mean to disparage, or disrespect anyone or any office. But I do mean to hold a candle to the truth. Satan is empowering some and deceiving others to accomplish his will in our country. As Christians, we must stand up against this is prayer and in deed. It is one thing to have denominational differences, it is another to have Biblical differences. Every true Christian denomination can agree that salvation comes only from Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ alone. They can agree on the doctrine that we must ask for forgiveness of our sins. We can all agree that we need to believe and pray according to the Bible – that it is the final authority in our lives and in this world. As Christians, we must stand for the truth.

“Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables (2Timothy 4:3-4).”
